Working alongside university public safety officers to ensure the health and welfare of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and guests. At sporting events, concerts, ceremonies, and other large scale events at the university.

Numerous Election Night Support (ENS) workers are needed election night to assist with the intake of election materials and voting equipment from the polling precincts. Workers are needed to perform a variety of tasks including; traffic control, unloading vehicles, receiving and sorting materials, inventory verification and reconciliation.Responsibilities: Assist with the receipt of voting materials and equipment from the polling precinctsPerform one or more tasks under the direction and supervision of BOE staffRequirements: Able to read, write and speak the English languageAble to follow and give verbal instructionsAble to work outdoors in possibly inclement weather conditionsAble to lift and carry items weighing 25 lbs.Report to the BOE on Election Day and remain until released by the Election Director

Chief Judges (CHF) serve as the polling precinct supervisors. Each precinct is staffed with two Chief Judges of different party affiliations. Chief Judges are selected from our experienced workers and successful candidates should exhibit the following: knowledge of the electoral process and procedures, patience and flexibility, strong communication and organizational skills, an attention to detail, sensitivity to the needs of voters and good people skills.Responsibilities: In conjunction with a Co-Chief, supervise the operation of the precinct in accordance with Maryland lawsEnsure a calm, pleasant voting day experience for voters while making certain all procedures are followed and the integrity of the election is preservedCoordinate and supervise pre-election and Election Day activitiesComplete, review and certify all precinct reports and documentationRequirements: Complete all required trainingAvailable the weekend prior to the election to pick-up supplies and/or attend a pre-election briefingAble to speak clearly, listen well and to be friendly and welcomingAble to sit and/or stand for extended periods of timeAble to follow procedures and written and verbal instructionsConduct the mandatory pre-election meeting at the polling precinct the evening prior to Election Day with the Co-ChiefAutomobile: each Chief Judge is required to drive a vehicle to the precinct on Election Day. The vehicle must be able to transport two people, the election materials and the voting equipment (excluding the Scanning Unit). Cell Phone: required for use on Election Day to communicate with the Board of Elections and while transporting the critical materials and election equipment to the Board of Elections, if necessary. In the event of any unusual or unexpected circumstance, the Chief Judges must be able to contact and be contacted by the Board of Elections immediately.

Voting Operations Judges (VOP) are trained to carry out the duties associated with each functional area in the polling precinct. The number of VOPs assigned to each precinct varies based on anticipated turnout. One VOP bilingual in Spanish is required per precinct.
