Software Support Engineer
Ios Software Developer
I spearheaded the development of Magic Crop, an AI photo editing app for iOS. Released in 2022 it has over 11,000 downloads. Our app allows users to select subjects in photos and selectively edit both the foreground and background separately.I led the design and implementation of the app's UI/UX utilising the MVC and MVVM design patterns and the Swift Libraries UIKit and SwiftUI. I created the Photo Library Menu, Projects Menu, Settings Menu, Tutorial Menu, as well as the Store Page - using StoreKit and integrating with RevenueCat, AppsFlyer, and FacebookCore.I developed a robust project manager program that allows users to save project settings and photos, and easily undo/redo photo edits. Additionally, I crafted over 150 captivating photo effects using a custom shader pipeline, leveraging AVFoundation and Metal Performance compute shaders via the Metal API.
Test Automation Developer
In a team of six, I completed 18 sprints within 8 months adhering to Agile Scrum methodology. My focus was on fortifying system reliability and streamlining deployment processes through comprehensive testing integration within the CI/CD pipeline, following Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) principles. My projects included implementing over 600+ unit tests using the .NET NUnit and SpecFlow APIs, as well as database unit testing and SQL query optimization with SQL Server. These tests were integrated into the build, QA, and integration stages, and failures would alert developers to errors they may have introduced while working on new features.I also led a major refactoring project to improve the maintainability of the PDF document generation system. Following user input, a pdf would be generated from the web application using XML, XSD and XSLT. Our team created a program that checks and validates the generated pdfs for any errors that needed to be corrected.Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, another large project I undertook was developing a versatile Excel template. Business Analysts could fill out forms depending on different financial lender specifications, and test data would be autogenerated using a custom .NET program. This project was significant for streamlining future financial lender onboardings with Taq Automotive.I was recognized for exceptional contributions in future-proofing software, and equipping the company to meet growing demands from top financial lenders such as iA Financial and RBC.
Game Developer (C#/.Net)
I co-created a Windows PC game released on Steam. The game is a procedurally generated, fully destructible, action RPG loaded with enemies to battle, resources to collect, and treasure to find. I was responsible for the UI/UX design and implementation. I created all the various menus in the game including the Settings Menu, Inventory Menu, Stats Menu, Save Menu, Crafting Menu, and Treasure Menu following the MVC architectural pattern. I also used Blender and MagicaVoxel to do all the model creation and animation rigging. Besides UI/UX design, my major responsibilities included programming the character controller, mob path finding behaviour, crafting and stats processes, as well as python scripts to facilitate the asset creation pipeline. The game runs on a custom-built engine written in C# and utilises SharpDX, a DirectX wrapper API for .NET, BulletSharp for physics, SQLite for game and resource saving, and FMOD for sound effects. The special effects were programmed in HLSL and ran in a custom shader pipeline.
Assistant Language Teacher
I taught English at three Elementary schools and one Junior high school, collaborating with over a dozen Japanese school teachers each week to design and prepare lesson plans for over 700 students. In addition to classroom teaching, I organized demonstration classes for training purposes and provided personalized coaching to junior high school students in preparation for speech contests. Notably, I was chosen, alongside my Japanese co-teacher, to conduct a recorded sample lesson with grade 9 students. This session was showcased across the province to other educators, highlighting our successful teaching approach.Despite arriving with no proficiency in Japanese, within two years, I attained conversational fluency and successfully passed the intermediate N3 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Outside of school, I also actively participated in the teacher's ice hockey league, and proudly lead our team to victory in the championship during my final year.
Red Cross Standard First Aid Instructor
I taught classes of 10-30 young adults essential life-saving skills, conducting both written and hands-on assessments over a two-day period for their First Aid Certifications.I worked alongside a team of 2-3 instructors, all trained in Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR at the HCP level, and we ensured each student received personalized attention and guidance. I conducted practical examinations to evaluate students' ability to respond to emergency situations effectively, reinforcing their learning and instilling confidence in their abilities.
