Engineering Services - Smelter Shutdown TeamManaging logistics projects for the plant-wide, 65-day, $175 million shutdown/turnaround. Major projects are: radio communications, toilets and wash stations, hydration and food, flatbed trailers for staging and material handling, lighting plants, and providing safety personnel for specialized projects. Analyzing and modeling scenarios to reduce cost or increase efficiency. Highlights are: minimizing new software license costs through Excel modeling, minimizing rental costs for materials and equipment by optimizing the quantities needed as well as obtaining lower rates through negotiation and research - resulting in savings of over 50%, and implement a configuration to our management of change tool to allow project documents to be routed and approved electronically. Testing and implementing new software to track the 2000+ contractors’ hours during the shutdown/turnaround – estimated savings in the millions of dollars. Major software’s are SAP, AutoCAD, Acrobat XI Pro, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint.Contracted at Rio Tinto Kennecott through Brunel Energy

Engineering Services North End ProjectsBegan as a project assistant writing purchase requisitions, researching materials, making project management binders, tracking hours and costs of contractors, and other various administrative tasks. Quickly received more responsibilities and began managing contractors in the field, act as a liaison between project managers and procurement, and create and manage project schedules through to completion. Manage projects from design to closeout up to $500K and assist in the management up to $30 million. Responsible while manager was out of the office. Prepare scopes of work, requests for quotations/proposals, schedules of values, and sole source exemption requests. Review and document engineered project drawings. Eliminated errors in the project budget, to yield a gain of $500K. Trained others on internal systems and procedures. Major software’s used were SAP, AutoCAD, Acrobat X Pro, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint.Contracted at Rio Tinto Kennecott through the Franklin Co.
