Dr. Richards has over ten years of experience in research and consulting for the environmental industry. His experience includes laboratory and pilot work relating to environmental remediation, wastewater treatment and reuse, drinking water treatment, and environmental microbiology. Dr. Richards’ current research focuses on the use of molecular biological techniques for environmental remediation. He specializes in biodegradation of chlorinated solvents and 1,4-dioxane. His prior research includes wastewater disinfection, advanced oxidation for drinking water and wastewater; bioremediation of petroleum, chlorinated solvents, and inorganics; anaerobic digestion of food, agricultural, and industrial wastes; biologically active filtration, electrochemical wastewater treatment, and in situ chemical oxidation.
