Profile bio

About Patrick Robbins

I am a bilingual Program Manager with a professional focus of working with survivors of trauma due to conflict. This has led me to work with refugees, immigrants, survivors of torture, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons. I first became passionate about supporting such groups of people in 2007 when I volunteered with a Nepali organization called Nagarik Awaaz working with internally displaced youth from Nepal's civil war. The founder of this organization, Rita Thapa, made each decision by first taking the name of a child and asking the question, "How will this decision impact Krishna?" Each time she would take the name of a different child to keep us mindful of who we are doing this work for and why we must do it well. These client-centered and trauma-responsive methods have shaped my approach to program management. I am a great believer in developing sustainable systems that are both culturally appropriate and trauma sensitive. This led me to incorporating the Do No Harm Framework and Trauma-Informed Care into the design of programs I manage. This has allowed me to increase efficiencies and outcomes as well as improving culturally appropriateness, avoiding re-traumatization and providing a healthier work environment.I combine this approach with strong practical program management skills which include; budget management and reporting, servant leadership, conflict resolution, data management and statistics generation, strategic planning, personnel supervision, program design, case management, report writing and a high level of organization.

Listed skills include Human Rights, Ngos, Civil Society, International Development, and 24 others.
