Summer position with the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. I led a feasibility study on an existing towing tank for use as a ship model basin, particularly for high-speed marine vehicles. I was responsible for the design, implementation and analysis of a benchmark test, following International Towing Tank Convention guidelines, and also acted as liaison between lab and industry partner. Use of SolidWorks to design the test rig, LabView for data collection and MatLab for data analysis. Responsible for preparing the final report to the industry partner.

Summer position with the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. I performed an experimental investigation into the response of a test sphere to an unsteady gust event. This particular project focused on the collection of force histories using a embedded sensor. Use of LabView to control the test rig and MatLab for processing and modelling.

Master of the youth training ship Playfair, an 18m, traditionally rigged sailing ship operating on the Great Lakes. Responsible for regulatory compliance, vessel operation, program delivery, ship maintenance and crew training. This included preparation and execution of an annual maintenance plan, crew training schedule, and summer passage plan. Primary point of contact for suppliers, inspectors, service technicians and skilled trade workers. Also served as the owner's representative for a re-powering of the vessel.
