Conducted failure investigations involving radioactive samples for the nuclear power industry. Familiar with the housekeeping practices for laboratory work involving radioactive specimens.

Management of the Materials and Process Engineering laboratory through a $10 million renovation and expansion in 2015-16. Supervision of eight union technicians. Responsible for the daily operations of the laboratory including EH&S activities, facilities projects, test procedures, quality and interfacing with internal and external customers. Contract position through Technical Engineering Consultants. Responsible for failure analysis of automotive components and materials characterization in support of product development. Duties included photographic documentation, preparation of samples, microscopic examination, scanning electron microscopy, image analysis, microhardness testing, tensile testing, and reporting of results and conclusions of the corporate knowledge base.

Involved in all phases of research and development testing of car, truck, and SUV bumper systems. Responsibilities included design of tests, data acquisition systems, development of product test plans, and analysis of test data to determine suitability for production. Testing included front/rear impact, trailer tow fatigue, single axis vibration testing, and various mechanical strength tests.

Temporary contract assignment, writing software for the analysis of data from the testing of commercial and military explosives. Programs were written in Visual Basic, Visual C++, and FORTRAN. Carried out analysis of test data using my own programs along with commercial software.

Temporary contract assignment through CDI Corp. as a metallurgical lab tech. Duties included preparation of evaluation specimens from metallic and composite engine parts as well as metallic and ceramic coatings. Evaluation of prepared specimens with optical microscope and physical testing of metallic and composite engine components, for quality control purposes.
