I was promoted to take on more responsibility after about a year in my original position with Bass Pro. I was given the Hardlines responsibility. Fishing and Hunting are the two largest departments in the store and I manage those along with Hunting clothing, Archery and Fly fishing. I employ 5 supervisors along with 25 full and part time employees. Fishing was one of only a handful of departments to achieve sales plan in year one. The fishing business is one which requires constant maintenance and attention to detail and customer needs. We were able to anticipate needs and adjust assortments through our corporate office in order to meet our customers’ demands. In the hunting department I manage day to day as well as ATF paperwork and ensure adherence to all federal guidelines related to firearm sales.Both departments are currently achieving top 10% results in the company for customer service surveys, credit acquisition and warranty sales.

This was a new store opening. I was fortunate to be able to combine a passion for fishing and the outdoors with my passion and aptitude for retail I was hired before the store opened to assist in store set up, construction and staffing. I hired an elite team of seasoned professionals for the fishing and footwear areas. My hires included 5 supervisor positions as well as over 40 full and part time positions. I trained and coached each member of my team in order to foster an independent and highly skilled work force that was able to fully serve our customers’ needs. I oversaw departments to achieve top 10% results in customer satisfaction as well as top 10% in credit acquisition and gear guard(warranty) performance.

I am accountable for leading the merchandising, visual, inventory and support teams in the store to achieve sales growth and operational excellence. I am also responsible for customer service and credit acquisition.I came to the New Hartford location during a difficult time for the store but achieved a YTD% sales increase of 14% during the third and fourth quarters of 2013. This moved the store from bottom quartile to top tier. While undergoing many management changes and differing company strategies in 2014 my location was consistent with and 8.1% YTD sales increase for 2014, this was good for #147 of 1,100 stores. Successes included; increased sales floor capacity by 15% while maintaining a visually exciting shopping experience. I increased productivity of merchandise delivery to the sales floor by 20%. I raised customer service scores from below average to top quartile of the company. I led 130 associates and 6 supervisors.
