When I was 17, my dad was terrified that I wanted to be an "Artist" for a living. He was a businessman and immediately assumed there was no future in my dream, and that I'd be selling velvet paintings near on-ramps to the highway. With some confidence and convincing by my mom, I set out to go to "Art School" where I excelled at the top of my class. I put my childhood work ethic into overdrive and finished college in 3 years (while having 3 simultaneous jobs). I was a Teaching Assistant, a Computer Tech, and what taught me the most, a Resident Assistant. I didn't know it then, but I was learning valuable lessons in listening, leading, and compassion. Following graduation, I freelanced around Chicago building a brand new demo reel and soaking up as many new experiences as possible. 1 year later, I was brought on as an Assistant at OPTIMUS. Just over a year later, I was a Designer, and not long after that, a Senior Designer. Loyal and happy, I stayed there for almost 10 years where I helped build an award-winning design team. I also gained the experience to not only execute really great work, but also build professional relationships, become a creative lead and ally for our team & company, and manage schedules and relationships to ensure we met our deadlines. Immediately after hitting the freelance world, I was flooded with new opportunities. Meeting new people, working on a variety of work, and constantly adapting to different environments... it was super exciting and feels like my younger days in the punk rock scene. I'm based out of Chicago, but am also available for freelance work abroad. I love working in teams as a Motion Designer / Creative Director, but I also love the quiet nature of a solo job. I've always been applauded for my versatility and communication skills, and feel equally comfortable in front of a computer or in front of your client.Thanks for reading!
