Throughout my career, I have combined my communications background in the roles I have held. Though I have an extensive radio broadcasting background, I also have worked as a Director of Public Information (very similar to a Director of Communications) for a college for five years. This role allowed me to use my extensive and diverse background in media relations, radio broadcasting, print communications, and public relations to create corporate communications and message. One of the highlights of the role in college communications:► Spearheaded launch of the Indian Hills College sports radio network by securing local business sponsorships and buying radio airtime to generate $40,000 annually for athletic scholarships. Highlights of my radio broadcasting career include:► Boosted WSAU radio from an initial 1.2 station rating to highest ratings of 9.9 through creation and delivery of current and entertaining content interactively, which built audience listenership. ► Selected to conduct two weeks of broadcasting live from Iraq on WSAU Radio and integrated talking to area service men and women. My roles in media have also been recognized:► Awarded the 2009 Defending the American Dream Award from an organization for outstanding media coverage of events and activities involving the state and national chapter.► Honored with the 2006 Wisconsin American Legion Public Relations Award for outstanding media coverage of events and activities involving service members.► Honored with the 2010 Elks Club Citizen of the Year Award for leadership and passion in promoting the citizens of Central Wisconsin.
