What I love about product design and product management is rapid, iterative problem solving. There are many viable solutions, but the only one that matters is the one the customer loves most. So, I talk to people, look at data, understand the problem, rapidly iterate ideas (crazy fast actually); create UX/UI mockups and prototypes; validate them with prospects, customers and stakeholders; establish meaningful KPI’s; make data-driven decisions; and keep moving as fast as possible, repeatedly. Understanding the user and defining the user experience is the most critical step and the greatest challenge. You can’t do that in your head. You need to do that through constant customer interaction and experiential problem solving. So, I “marry the problem, not the solution” as Dan Greenberg said, because that’s where all the fun is.

Svp, Design DirectorEmarketer, Inc. Jan 2018 - Nov 2018New York, NyAs Design Director I report to the CEO and oversee all digital and print design at eMarketer. I manage a team of four direct reports. Working closely with Engineering, Product Development, Editorial, Ad Sales, Marketing, and Sales, I ensure all design is on brand and tied to clear business objectives. Our digital products are the driving force behind most design initiatives, but this is not limited to UX and UI -- it also encompasses infographics, data visualization, presentations, and analyst reports (PDF and online). Beyond product-related design, we're creating marketing materials, advertising deliverables, and in-house publications. -
Vp Product DesignEmarketer, Inc. Dec 2013 - Jan 2018New York, NyA product designer is (to varying degrees) a UX Designer, Visual Designer, Motion Designer, User Researcher, Data Analyst, Prototyper, Business Strategist and Chief Advocate for the Users. Product design involves it all. And good product designers marry the problem, not the solution (as Dan Greenberg said) because the problem is constantly changing. My job is to discover, then solve, the users' problems. And then do it all over again. As the users's needs (and the technical possibilities) evolve, we evolve the product -- constantly.I'm currently working on a cross-functional team discovering and implementing a wide variety of awesome design and feature upgrades that keep our flagship subscription product on the next level. We explore hundreds of possibilities through opportunity analysis, idea generation, UX design, low- and high-fidelity prototypes, concept testing, user research, value-to-customer assessments, UI design, and deep analytic analysis. In 2014 I designed the Information Architecture, UX and UI for eMarketer Retail, which launched as a successful stand-alone pilot in April 2014 and has now been seamlessly integrated with our main subscription product. I built a data-driven high-fidelity prototype, incorporated feedback from prototype users, and worked with our agile engineering team and product marketing group to deliver a robust product in four months. -
