I’ve teamed up with an old friend to build a low carbon timber business. Over 5,000 mature trees are felled in London every year – oak, plane, sycamore, ash and more - and most of them end up as firewood. We recycle London’s felled trees, turning them into quality hardwood for furniture makers and designers. With 90% of hardwood used in the UK imported, we’re proud to offer a locally grown alternative. Every tree we save from the fire keeps over 1 tonne of carbon out of the atmosphere – an amount which would take 20 years for 6 newly-planted trees to offset.I’m using my marketing and business start-up experience to develop the company. Our priorities in the year ahead: rebranding and driving B2B and B2C marketing - including a new ecommerce website; establishing relationships with suppliers of felled trees: and building production and operational capacity.

It also involves learning about - and being a part of - the world's efforts to reach net zero carbon by 2050, and the circular economy.
