I am a Neuroscience Professor and the Frank LeBlanc Chair in Spinal Cord Research at the University of Calgary, where I have been working for over 20 years. My research focuses on understanding how brain and spinal cord circuits can generate walking and how they can be repaired after injury or disease. I was a Department Head of Comparative Biology and Experimental Medicine, where I oversaw one of the leading biomedical departments in Veterinary Medicine in Canada. In 2022 I became the inaugural Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at our Faculty during the first major restructuring in our Faculty history. have been involved in leading diverse teams on campus, creating programs, meetings, and team grant proposals. I have also consulted for the Government of Alberta and participated in several grant committees and external reviews at the national and international level. I am passionate about teaching and mentoring students and faculty at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I was a founding member of the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where we developed an innovative curriculum.
