In addition PSC provide counselling to families and people going through challenging times. PSC currently employs almost 900 staff and has around 850 'guests' in its homes.

The Board of Queen Elizabeth II National Trust made a decision to review the organization in mid 2012 and engaged me as Interim Chief Executive to review the organization operations and with the board build a strageic plan from which a number of strategic initiatives have been undertaken. My role as a change leader was to bring the 10 national office team and 23 regional represenatives into a shared focus,support a cultural change and lead a review of 'how we operate' which has led to a dynamic working environment, a focus on effectivness and a fun place to work. I have learned so much from the experience. What a privledge to share with an organization and its people (staff and board) such a journey!

Learning State Limited a crown owned company that provides access to on the job traing as an ITO was sold by the Crown in August 2012 to Skills New Zealand who took over the full operations including staff and contracts. The Company which has cleared all its liabilities and obligations filed its final report, audited accounts with Parliament in March 2013.

Surf Life Saving NZ had gone through a challenging time prior to my appontment in June 2011 as Interim CEO. There had been financial issues arising from their Centenial celebrations, member dis-satisfaction and a loss of key staff. In addition Surf was faced with an election of a new board following the resignation of the existing board. My task was to develop a strategic review and plan for the organization, review and rebuild the financial structure and to provide a refocus for both staff and members. These tasks were completed and in April 2012 the Board appointed a permanent CEO to continue the strategic direction that had been set, the financial disciplines that had been introduced and the overall re-building programme.

The opportunity to represent Rotary International in District 9940 of New Zealand was very satisfying both from a personal point of view and from a professional perspective. There are 60 Rotary Clubs and 2300 Rotarians in the District. This as well as the International involvement of the role gave my wife and me a chance to spend a year together which is a rare opportunity with both of us being fully engaged in Rotary. The role involved considerable travel and time commitment e.g. attended three international conventions and conferences over the period as well as New Zealand programmes and visits to each of the 60 Clubs (some of these a number of times). A year of voluntary service and great satisfaction! Successfully challenged Rotarians to actively become involved in "Its Not OK - Family Violence Campaign". Participated in a Rotary Intl, Unicef and WHO National Imminization Day programme in India - January 2009 and again in January 2011.

Public Trust is the largest of four trustee companies operating in NZ with 460 staff, $1 billion of funds under management and $13 billion of assets under its trustee responsibility. Appointed initially as a non-executive director of Public Trust in 2001 by its owners the New Zealand Government. The Board was tasked with the role of modernising the governance structure and assisting the transition to a crown entity.Following the departure of the CE was appointed Chief Executive in early 2003 - the third person to hold this role in under 2 years.The business had incurred losses for the previous four years but has recorded profits since 2003 and is expected to continue to recover profitability under focused management. Led the development of "Strategic Direction Business Case" and commitment of shareholder to fund $30m for the necessary rebuilding and repositioning of Public Trust. Retired from Public Trust March 2007 to concentrate on Rotary International Governor role for 2007/8.

The role of President of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants which is an organization with over 32,000 members required a heavy commitment as it was at the time of Enron, introduction of international accounting standards and a time when governance was being challenged both at the professional finance and accounting level and also at organizational leadership. The year involved extensive travel both internationally to represnt the profession at international forums, meeting our members (20% live overseas) and in New Zealand visiting branches, awarding membership, and as part of working groups e.g. with IRD on tax etc.

The main focus of the practice was to provide consulting support to businesses especially in regard to strategic positioning plus mentoring support.Consulting role with Wellington City Council covering managing the Council's Economic Development Group, establishing a regional economic development trust, managing a media-lab project and developing the city's longer term economic development strategy.Following establishment of the Wellington Regional Economic Development Trust

WestpacTrust was the result of a merger between Trust Bank and Westpac Banking Corporation. One of a few from Trust Bank to be appointed to a senior position within the new bank Was actively involved in managing the merger of the two banks. Following my election as President Elect for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of NZ I left the Bank in 2001 to allow greater time for the role as well as concentrate on re-building the consultancy practice.

One of ten regional banks within the group I led the refocus and return to profit of this Wellington based bank.

Represented an international investment bank in NZ, provided advisory services to businesses in relation to strategy, re-financing/re-structuring as well as providing voluntary advice/support to businesses in trouble.
