For over 10 years I specialised in the purchasing function for Allaero Limited. From being the sole buyer in 2008 through a career progression that led up to Purchasing Manager with 2 colleagues reporting to me. Early in 2019, following an internal reorganisation, I moved to the new position of Head of Repairs. I've looked after repairs, as part of purchasing for sometime, but the role has become large enough to warrant it's own department. I am responsible for determining the units that need to be sent out for repair and overhaul, who they are sent to, negotiating pricing and contracts with repair stations and identifying purchasing opportunities to enhance the company's offering into an increasingly crowded and competitive marketplace. I enjoy creating strong relationships with my repair station network. Allaero has access to some of the best facilities in the world - both in the UK and in the States - and a lot of these companies have become partners with us during my watch.I like to understand the organisation I work for - not just the department I work in but also all the other functions that I interact with and the personnel who work in them. Great interpersonal skills are required for this. The ability to understand people and their roles. To work respectfully and efficiently but also to have a laugh and have an interest in their lives away from work.
