  Qualifications and experience: I joined Lang Bennetts as a trainee accountant in the year 2000 after completing a chemistry degree at the University of Southampton.I gained the ACCA qualification in 2004, and was later admitted as a fellow of the Association.Sector specialisms: •Audit and compliance - as audit manager I lead our audit team in dealing with clients across the full spectrum of the Cornish economy including manufacturing, engineering, construction, hospitality and tourism, leisure and the arts. I also deal with a portfolio of individuals, businesses and companies advising on accounting, personal and business tax planning and compliance. I also have a particular interest in clients in the charity and not-for-profit sector. •Scientific and technological - given my background in science, I have a particular interest in the tax advantages of scientific and technological research and development, having recently been involved in making claims for R&D tax credits for some extremely interesting projects undertaken by our clients. •Special assignments - other interests include ad-hoc special reporting assignments including business valuations, due diligence work, dealing with the financial aspects of business plans and projections for new and established businesses.Outside interests: Out of work I am enjoying being fully engrossed in family life with my young daughter.
