As a commercial underwriter, my duties required: analysis and preparation of committee packages for commercial CRE, C&I, Business Banking, and various other types of credit requests; spreading of financial statements, corporate and personal tax returns; assessing cash flow and repayment ability, compiling projected financial information, determining strengths and weaknesses of the borrower.

Responsible for coordination of services for fifteen loan origination software clients. Monitored logged issues for clients to ensure correction and resolution are achieved in a timely manner. Created project plans, schedule resources, and manage progress for implementation of new clients. Reviewed and assessed value of client enhancement requests to assist with meeting client needs in new software functionality.

Assist in preparation of audited financial statements for financial institutions and employee benefit plans, perform analytical procedures to verify information, prepare audit programs; perform external audit procedures in all areas of banking, including ACH, BSA, commercial and consumer Loan Review, Allowance for Loan and Lease Loss Computation, for numerous banks across Louisiana and prepare written reports for management; preparation of individual income tax returns; accounting and bookkeeping for various types of entities.

Research and write requirements for features to be added as functionality in loan origination and deposit application software. Specific requirement features written include Regulatory Compliance Changes, ACH File Creation, Identity Verification, Web Application. Peer review other requirements and assist with quality assurance effort. Work within a team of various development functions to create new functionality, manage scope, and meet target release dates. Understand the client’s business problem, assess value across client base, and provide input into priority of enhancement requests. Assist Customer Service Team in assessing customer-reported issues, identifying and correcting bugs. Adhere to SAS 70 Type II Audit procedures to help attain an Unqualified Opinion for five consecutive years.

Directed clients from across the United States during implementation of loan application software, including 30+ new installations. Notable clients that I had direct involvement with include Bank of the West, Comerica, RBC, Capital One. Evaluate the financial institution’s credit policy requirements, including consumer, commercial and indirect lending, to determine appropriate strategies for software configuration. Assess financial institution’s current loan processing methods, and make recommendations where efficiencies can be realized. Work within team environment to assist clients with questions and performance issues. Oversee projects to ensure communication and progress toward completion.

Review and evaluate mortgage loan packages submitted for approval; analyze credit files of mortgage loan applicants for approval or denial within assigned lending authority; evaluate residential appraisals, calculate debt to income ratios; analyze credit reports to categorize and place on appropriate lending program; provide prompt, courteous service to brokers and correspondents; assist team members in completion of assignments to ensure proper customer service. Helped team achieve highest monthly loan volume for company.

Coordinate and perform review of commercial and consumer loan portfolios; analyze credits for quality and assign risk rating, examine collateral documentation for technical deficiencies; discuss classified and problem loans with account officers and present to loan and executive committees; prepare quarterly loan report to update status of classified credits. Additional responsibilities included: recommending loans for non-accrual and charge off; review of commercial real estate appraisals, monitoring bank compliance with federal regulations concerning loan-to-value for real estate secured loans.
