Data AnalystThe Open University Aug 2016 - Mar 2017Milton Keynes, United KingdomSoftware used in this role includes, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Base, Putty, Tableau, Excel, Visio Working within the Marketing Department my role was to produce MI regarding student number performance against target and Prospect and Applicant numbers. Again the requirement could be in the form of engaging interactive reports (using MI tools such as Tableau) or more static outputs in pdf/excel. I would understand and help to shape the requirements by collaborating with the client before presenting and discussing the consequences of the findings. Topics covered include tactical reporting of volumes versus target against a variety of module related variables, tracking registration/reservation activity over time, modelling target volumes at each stage of the student journey to understand progression and pinpoint faults in the pipeline, internal performance against the wider education market and student profiling.I also worked on data transformation activities specifically creating a data mart for Prospect and Applicant Campaign Selections. Based on the prescribed Segmentation and campaign plan I constructed a mart that would consistently and accurately make individuals available for communication at the right time. -

This area is responsible for providing support to students as they decide on a qualification to study and also assisting students in their registration process. My role was to provide performance information on inbound and outbound call handling and also analysis on the processing of diverse queries coming into different teams within the unit. Beyond this I also worked on models in order to better understand the students who come to us with queries that will affect the performance levels and numbers of staff required within the team.Within this role I continued to use SAS and Tableau as a means to process and present data. This information was communicated to colleagues, managers, team leaders and centre co-ordinators over the three locations in the UK that the team is spread across. This role also required co-ordination with other units within the University and external companies. This can range from our own IT department to Marketing and the Strategy & Information Office. This can be to receive or disseminate data or consult on different projects that will impact on critical systems that the University uses.During my time with the University I have been required and able to work as part of a wider team but also given the responsibility to manage my own workload. Campaign Planning AnalystThe Open University Oct 2007 - Nov 2015Milton Keynes, United KingdomMy primary focus, working within the Marketing Department, was to produce MI regarding student numbers which is critical for measuring performance within the department. This could be in the form of engaging interactive reports (using MI tools such as Tableau) or more static outputs in pdf/excel. I would understand and help to shape the requirements by collaborating with the client before presenting and discussing the consequences of the findings. Topics covered include tactical reporting of volumes versus target against a variety of module related variables; tracking registration/reservation activity over time; modelling target volumes at each stage of the student journey to understand progression and pinpoint faults in the pipeline; internal performance against the wider education market and student profiling.Another aspect of the role was to produce data selections for marketing campaigns or research projects. This involved discussing a brief with Marketing Communications colleagues to ensure that it met the objectives of the campaign. This required having a deep understanding of the variety of data sources available to call upon and the technical skill to access and combine them.
