I am an optometrist who has gained experience in many aspects of optometric practice through my career, with particular interest in service design and development, and clinical interests in contact lenses and the ocular surface. My work life is split between high street optometric practice, hospital optometry, eye care service development, education and my own further study. I hope to maintain this varied approach to my career into the future.I grew up in Birmingham and studied at Aston University. Having spent my pre-registration year at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre I moved to Shropshire, maintaining my hospital connections in Birmingham. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to move into independent practice management two years later, this gave me valuable experience and allowed me flexibility to pursue other career interests. I moved away from practice management to allow myself to pursue other career opportunities in service development and education.Outside work I keep tropical fish, enjoy playing trumpet in a soul band and frequently volunteer on the Talyllyn Railway.
