Responsible for the planning and optimisation for one of Europe’s most modern refineries, Leuna Refinery. This 12M ton refinery is 12% of the German refining capacity and is an in-land refinery with specific domestic markets which depends greatly on a complex logistics system (terminals, rail access, pipeline) – this requires a reactive response management in an environment of fast-moving product demand and very quickly changing economic circumstances and industrial operating activities, for which I am responsible. I take the output parameters of the refinery along with the economics, logistics teams, internal and external customers to steer the business unit in the most economic way. As the focal point for external customers, I follow up on contracts, performance KPIs as well as participate in contract renewals and negotiations.

Responsible for the short term planning and optimisation for Lindsey Oil Refinery. Liaising between the refinery and the market, to ensure the operation of the refinery is fully optimised along with optimising the purchases and sales from the refinery. Ensuring constant supply to the domestic market while managing flows in a fast moving environment, taking into account operation issues at the refinery as well as fluctuations in the markets.

Responsible for the long term planning for Lindsey Oil Refinery. This includes; using the Linear Programme to produce monthly plans to maximise the profitability of the refinery, running crude evaluations and liaising with the crude purchaser to buy the most economic crudes for the refinery, producing the yearly budget and long term plans for the refinery.
