I have over thirty six years experience working within the railway industry, the majority of that time within the front line operating environment, working in spheres as varied as freight, regional, Intercity and commuter services.I moved over to railway management in 2002, working initially on the implementation and running of simulator systems, driver training, bespoke route learning programs, creation of innovative training packages, instructive videos and interactive software. This work expanded into Operational Safety where incident reduction requirements often required creative and innovative permanent fixes resulting in notable downturns in incidents.Over the last few years I have returned to my roots and back to freight operations where as the Training & Standards manager for DC Rail I carry out day to day training requirements for the operational staff while also taking on operational projects within the company and from external sources that would have an impact on our day to day operations.
