Managed a team of program managers responsible for lean manufacturing projects in all areas of the business including services, refurbishment, and production. Drove program strategies to meet or exceed all milestones against cost, quality and service metrics while ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsible for weekly updates to upper management on major key operating indicators. Accomplishments included increasing yield from 52 to 98 % through a finishing process, tripled throughput in service’s test area, and doubled the throughput in failure analysis.

Managing a high security program, I developed, managed, and communicated program vision and expectations to all team members. Developed individualized quotes, layouts, process flow steps, and labor needs for all four unique build areas. Provided GAM support on commercial aspects of projects and partnered with customer to resolve escalations and meet all project milestones in a timely manner. Resulted in successful development and deployment of high volume, high profile commercial products to Flex China facility.

Managed global transfer programs from China to Brazil, India, and Poland. Directly interfaced with the customer & internal support staff. Supported global manufacturing and operations involved with new product introduction and new facility startups. Supported global account managers and business development managers on new product development. Collaborated with the customer’s electro-mechanical design team on DFX & CR opportunities. All programs met or beat milestones, and transferred successfully.

Managed a team of 5 engineers responsible for new product introduction and project management. Included pilot builds through to production of electromechanical products. Responsibilities included: project plans, material management, introduction of new processes and equipment, and DFM feedback to the customer’s design team. Successfully transferred and implemented several NPI programs, which accounted for over $28 million in revenue. Major accomplishments included increasing the profit margin by more than 12% by reverse engineering an integrated cabinet that was locally outsourced.

Worked with the SSCI sales team to support customer application needs on metal fabrication, which included: developing and giving presentations on SSCI enclosure capabilities, reviewing drawing packages and forwarding to appropriate enclosure sites, and working with the site on resolving any issues regarding completion of quotes. Responsibilities also included addressing any pre-production issues with the customer up to the completion of the first article.

Managed 2 fabricated material commodity specialists responsible for 3 facilities. Responsibilities included: cost analysis, supplier performance, vendor selection, supplier audits and qualification, quotes, and new product support. Managed a team of 2 engineers responsible for all levels of test on PCBA’s. Focused on test plans, test fixture design, production throughput within two shifts, and test equipment. Also included capital, fixture fabrication in-house, outsourcing, and maintenance programs on the equipment.

Supply Base Engineer, Sanmina RelationsSupported Nortel’s contract manufacturer in qualifying new vendors, making cost reductions, improving field performance, and ensuring quality. Oversaw the transfer of strategic components from other suppliers to Sanmina’s manufacturing facilities, which included setting up and tracking all qualification milestones. Component Engineer, CDMA ProcurementCoordinated qualification of new electro-mechanical components (sheet metal, die casing, plastics, backplanes, etc), new vendor selection & qualification, sustaining vendor audits, lead time, capacity, and capability studies, identifying second source supplier where needed, manage vendor to meet all qualification specifications on time. Work with designers early in the design phase to minimize quality issues upfront (DFM).Manufacturing/Process EngineerGlobal process development team member, and team leader for department. Worked with design team on new product DFM. Responsibilities included wave and selective soldering, and new product manufacturing support. Personal accomplishments included researching, identifying, and qualifying new innovative equipment and processes. Redefined current manufacturing processes, redesigned layout of new process flows for current and new product introduction, and consistently focused on defect reduction programs. Personally identified and implemented an innovative project, which involved a first-of-its-kind selective soldering process that allowed hand-soldered boards to be machine soldered; resulted in an over $400K labor reduction.
