House Manager/Team LeaderCommunity Services, Department Of Human Services Nsw Jan 1987 - Oct 2000I acted in management roles on many occasions overseeing a number of teams. For the majority of my career in Human Services, I led a multi-disciplinary team of professionals providing assistance to people with a disability to live in homes in the community. I am proficient in rostering, budgeting, staff supervision, recruitment, training, disciplinary action as well as person centred support for people with an intellectual/physical disability, many with complex needs. As a known ‘go to’ person during challenging times of organisational change, I was asked to Act as Deputy Manager and Manager of Minalli (a centre for at-risk youth in residential care) for the 6 months prior to its planned devolution. Despite a great team, it was not the right environment for at risk youth.I was also a Committee member in establishment of the Disability Client Database for NSW.and worked with Community Groups, Non-Government Agencies, and funding groups to unblock Adult Respite in Western Sydney. At short notice, I also mapped services against need for service provision, across Western Sydney, presenting my findings and recommendations to Governmental and Non-government organisations.Career highlights included many rewarding moments where I was privileged to assist people living with disabilities to improve their quality of life. For example, accessing funding for a young man with cerebral palsy to receive a computer with augmentative communication software and training him to use it was just one such rewarding and memorable moment.
