I received my trade qualification as a Toolmaker in 1991 and worked in the trade until 1997. I then went into business in a food franchise and did this from when I opened my first store in 1998 until 2023. During my years in business my role evolved into being responsible for doing the bookeeping and financials as the company expanded and grew. I gained skills in MYOB, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. I have continually updated my skills, doing an Advanced Diploma in Accounting at TAFE in 2008. Then, in 2019, I enrolled to do a Bachelor of Accounting at Southern Cross University. I now have one unit to complete my degree and expect to finish at the end of 2024. During my years in business, apart from the experience gained in doing financials, I have also had dealings with HR, customers and suppliers. I have served time on the local marketing board and regional marketing board of the franchise over several years, and I have gained experience dealing with and installing IT and networking systems. In 2022 I received an award from CPA Australia for the highest GPA for a second-year student at SCU. I have now had the privilege to have become a full-time member with HQB Accountants Auditors & Advisors and in my time there I have now gained experience using Xero. I also have expanded my experience to include quarterly BAS, SGC statements, individual tax returns and company financials.I enjoy overcoming challenges, and I work well with other people. I am always open to change and improvement and I enjoy learning new skills, I am always willing to do new training. I am a visual-based learner and once shown a process I can follow that process, I am a stringent follower of instructions. I like to always be neat and tidy and have strong values around honesty, integrity, reliability, and punctuality, as well as doing the job you are employed to do.
