Been there, done that, wrote the soundtrack. Author, professor, musician, hobbyist. Have documented computer software and many other technologies since mainframe days. Have played guitar and banjo and built model railroads since the 1960s. Retired in 2019 from working for other people. I'm changing my "about" statement in 2023 because no matter how I write it, I still get inundated with emails, phone calls, and messages from rocket scientists who think a retiree with 40+ years of professional experience and two graduate degrees is laying awake nights hoping for a job three states away that pays beginner rates. No, I don't want to move, unless the deal comes with a big house with live-in help in a great location. No, I don't want to work ANY job for less money than I made in the 1990s. I'm glad to interact with ANYONE who wants to talk about music - especially acoustic, indie, or Folk music. And anyone who wants to talk about model trains, especially S gauge and Garden Railroading. Or even about the "good old days" when clear, concise, effective writing about complex subjects was considered a professional skill worth a professional salary. The rest of you, stay the #$%^&*( off my lawn! :-)
