I was seconded to the Ultra Precision Machining Centre (UPMC) to work on single point ultra precision lathes. In UPMC I was programming and machining various profiles including spheres, aspheres, hybrid and diffractive surfaces. I was also involved in the expansion and training of new personnel during growth of the department.

After serving my apprentership I gained valuable experience in the production process of the manufacture of high precision optics including grinding, profiling and polishing and general machining using both CNC controlled and conventional machinery.
