Supported Technical Director in managing operations for 1300-seat performing arts center. Over ten years, put on more than 1,000 events and all associated rehearsals, set ups, tech walk-throughs, and planning sessions, including K-12 fine arts performances (orchestra, band, theater, visual, choir), community arts groups, UVA cultural associations, professional touring artists, district-wide school programs, and community action events, among others. Duties included booking, operating sound and light boards, rigging scenery, teaching technical theater skills to high school students, mentoring, developing and implementing annual budgets, performing daily and periodic maintenance, and communicating effectively with school officials, teachers, students, external groups, and the public. Oversaw a complete overhaul of the auditorium’s sound system; successfully integrated students into technical positions for performances; developed SOPs for essential technical functions in the theater; streamlined pit stage conversion to take 33% less time.

I have been a working professional musician for more than 40 years, the last 30+ of which has been in the Charlottesville area. During that time, I have performed live with countless bands, recorded in a variety of studios in Virginia, Georgia, and Louisiana, and engineered/produced music for myself and others. Coordinated the release of two albums (accounting, scheduling, marketing, distributing), managed all web and press interactions (writing and distributing press releases, coordinating interviews/feature articles, writing and distributing regular emails to fanbase, and utilizing social media outlets to raise awareness and visibility for the group), booked shows in venues around the East Coast, publicized shows through press/web/posters/street teams, and co-managed a 3-week East Coast tour (booking, publicizing, scheduling accommodations).

Wrote all content for website (news, features, concert & record reviews, artist interviews), managed development site and backend of website, managed staff and interns, coordinated and published company newsletter, led a team tasked with developing a new look and purpose for company website, created and maintained departmental budget.
