I started my career as an Mechanical Engineer in the manufacturing industry, and it wasn't long before I realised that I could combine my problem solving skills with my values in the non-profit sector. I have over 8 years of experience working with non profits in a variety of roles, beginning in program development and most recently in non-profit leadership. I'm skilled in leading and managing international staff and projects, designing programmes for implementation and working with youth. My engineering background pays off when it comes to taking an analytical, logical approach to problem solving and strategising which I enjoy applying in all contexts.A number of years ago I completed a Masters Degree in Education and began working as a teacher. I am deeply passionate about education as a transformative tool, not just for academic growth but also for changing mindsets. I have a profound belief in the power of education to empower individuals and shift perspectives.Throughout my career, I have maintained a growth mindset, but have found this to be of great value in my personal life also. Over the last number of years I have developed a passion for environmental sustainability and try and live my life in accordance with this value. Five years ago, I bought a houseboat to live in as a means of being more sustainable. Although at the time I didn’t yet have the skills, I learnt the relevant skills in DIY, electrics and marine science and as a result now reside in a beautiful, off-grid, sustainable home. Furthermore, for recent professional development, I undertook and in the process of completing a level 9 course in data science. This is the second successive course I’ve done in data science and I’m hoping to work towards a masters in the area.
