As National Risk Manager for 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, I develop and manage strategies for risk abatement in the underwriting of our new home warranty program. I have been a member of the 2-10 HBW management team since 1997, with more than 35 years of experience in the home building industry. As director of 2-10 HBW Risk Management, I monitor claim activity by geographic region and builder to pro-actively address emerging loss trends. In high risk areas where expansive or other active soil conditions exist that are not adequately addressed by conventional construction methods or local code enforcement, my risk management team will set special standards. This includes guidelines for geotechnical investigations, foundation designs and quality assurance inspections to bring the risk into an acceptable range. I have authored articles in trade publications across the country and have been a guest lecturer at industry functions nationwide, speaking to building officials, consumer groups, home builders and real estate agents. I taught a class for construction superintendents from 1993 through 2008 for the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver Quality Construction Certification Program. I was a member of the Jefferson County Soils Task force that drafted standards for construction in the dipping bedrock geological hazard area and the HBA Expansive Soils Task Force. I have been acknowledged by the Colorado Geological Survey for contributions to their publication "A Guide to Swelling Soils for Colorado Home Buyers and Homeowners." I was recognized by the Home Builders Association for my “commitment to establishing and improving quality construction standards for the betterment of the housing industry.” A commitment which aligns with our company mission which is to improve the quality of housing and the experience of home ownership. I am a licensed General Contractor and a Certified Green Professional through the National Association of Home Builders.
