After many years of doing the bizz, time has caught up with me. As bits of me begin to malfunction I thought it was time to take it easy and so now I have resigned myself to passing on my vast skills to anyone who wants to listen. You know what they say "those that do, do. Those that can't, talk about it". I have Instructed in many different countries and have made some great friends in Australia, Turkey, Crete and the USA., probably because of my good looks or possibly my relaxed style of teaching, In 2010 I retired after 35 years in Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service. Most of my time was served at the county's busiest fire and rescue station. From there I moved in to the New Dimension project, the Fire Service's response to a natural or "manmade" disaster. I became a specialist instructor in public mass decontamination and was personally responsible for the day to day running of a CBRN laboratory vehicle, attached to the Department. Along with my Fire Service career I have been training dog for over 30 years. I started training Spaniels and Labradors for hunting, then moved into Search and Rescue work, training wilderness dogs. I was asked to join the Brigade's USAR team as a dog handler and became the first Brit to attend the FEMA Specialsit Canine Search Specialist course in 2004. In 2007 I trained the first cadaver dog for Fire Service work in the UK. On my retirement I formed a company training detection, security and SAR dog teams.
