Glas Cymru is the parent company of Dŵr Cymru, the regulated water and sewerage company serving customers in Wales, Herefordshire and Deeside (1.4m people). Glas Cymru members are independently selected and act similarly to shareholders but without a financial incentive. Members work with the executive to support and challenge the work of Dŵr Cymru, acting as ‘critical friends’ of the company and forming a key part of the ‘checks and balances’ system of governance. Includes providing input and guidance on key strategies, business planning, and company challenges; shareholder-type activities (accounts analysis, board selection, voting on key issues, AGMs, etc).
