PhD thesis: Development of formulations for poorly soluble drugs and their evaluation after intrathecal administration into the central nervous system. Expertise: Development of parenteral formulations and their characterisation, HPLC-UV of samples in various matrices, rodent micro-surgery (tracheostomy and laminectomy) and maintenance of anaesthesia, electromyography recordings and pain assays, intrathecal injections (IV, IP), tissue dissection and handling, biodistribution analysis, design of experiments (DOE).

Performed physical particle characterisation and flow performance studies to understand how material properties affect powder flow in continuous manufacturing. Techniques used involve stability and variable flow-rate testing, bulk and tapped measurements, specific surface area, true density, ring shear testing, particle sizing and morphology by SEM.

Performed effective assay and technical knowledge transfer to Quality Control and Production Scientists. Worked with Line Manager to plan, design and execute performance qualification, method comparison and validation experiments. Actively participated in cross-departmental, project management meetings and R&D focus meetings. Provided technical support in the development of new assays and to enhance current research methodologies.Expertise: qRT-PCR and DOE

Extended the investigation into the transport of pentamidine across the blood-brain barrier and contributed to a publication.Expertise: Drug transporter substrate and inhibition assays on bEnd.3 and hCMEC/D3 cell lines, Western Blots, handling of radiolabelled substances and liquid scintillation counting, preparation of compounds, stock solutions and buffers.
