I have been mentoring for over 15 years & through my experience of working with young people have grown a huge passion to support them through the many challenges that they face, both in school & at home. I believe it is paramount to let the young person know there is someone else out there who cares about them & provide them a valuable safe place to spend free time. There are times when they can feel isolated & this can undoubtedly lead to loss of confidence, low self-esteem & not having the chance to develop personally or educationally. I was part of the mentoring scheme at Legal & General for many years & eventually managed the team of mentors. I built & maintained excellent working relationships with The Beacon High School & SATRO & especially built strong rapport & trust links with the mentees, so beneficial to the growing up process. I also work for a local charity, Mentoring Advocacy & Peer Support (MAPS) where I mentor young people from many different backgrounds. This keeps me current in understanding the many changes that face the secondary education system each year.I have 10 years of project management experience, where I dealt with complex situations & utilising my excellent problem-solving skills providing a suitable resolution.
