Paul is liaison for Herax Partners cross border M&A activities in Japan where he has worked on transactions in a variety of consumer products segments. From May 2013 Paul began as Business Development Director for EDHEC Risk Institute's new venture Scientific Beta. Scientific Beta is a series of risk-controlled benchmarks for global equity portfolios. From January 2015 he is responsible for the Japan market business development. SGX acquired Scientific Beta in January 2020. The Tokyo office was closed in 2023. Paul advised ViciPartners on their Japan market entry and worked with TAP Japan on investment projects.Paul assisted RJA LLC with introducing portfolio reengineering tools to Japanese institutions for managing risk in global equity portfolios using option strategies derived from MIT Professor Steve Ross' Arbitrage Pricing Theory and additional research. With ILS Advisers Paul advised on the use of insurance linked securities for diversification of Japanese institutional investment portfolios. At Route One Films Paul is assisting with bringing a new investment fund for multiple film production projects to Japanese institutions.FTSE’s business in Asia Pacific markets was Paul’s area from 2003 as Managing Director when he was successful in developing broad institutional licencing for FTSE products in the region and developing a team to maintain growth targets through strong service standards. Significant milestones were exchange partnerships , the use of FTSE equity non price indices, listing of Chinese A share products and a partnership with the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) in 2010 for net of tax benchmarks. Paul worked at HSBC Investment Bank in Japan in various positions. In addition to being an equity capital markets and M&A deal origination Director for HSBC in Japan, Paul also worked within the Tokyo broking activities for Japanese equities and warrants, Eurobonds, US Treasuries, European equities and American equities with Sanford Bernstein. .
