As the co-founder of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Paula Wallace has diligently served and shaped the institution since it opened in 1978. She currently serves as president of the university, responsible for more than 12,000 students and over 700 faculty members working in more than 40 major fields of study. Under the direction of Paula Wallace, SCAD has expanded to include award-winning online instruction and well-appointed, new locations in Lacoste, France and Hong Kong. Paula Wallace has created many institutions, programs and events that enrich the student experience at SCAD, including the Collaborative Learning Center that connects students with Fortune 100 and other leading companies on a project basis, the Savannah Film Festival, which attracts more than 40,000 attendees each year, SCADstyle, deFine Art, aTV Fest and more. Paula Wallace also spearheaded the creation of the SCAD Museum of Art, which won the National Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects in 2014.Under President Wallace’s leadership, SCAD is recognized around the world for its innovation. The Kaplan/Newsweek College Guide named SCAD as one of the "25 cutting-edge schools with an eye toward the future" while Forbes Small Business magazine named the school one of America's Best Colleges for Entrepreneurs.Over the course of her career, Paula Wallace has garnered many accolades, including the first Elle Décor Vision Award and, from the government of France, the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes Diplomatiques. For her support of urban communities, Paula Wallace earned the W.W. Law Legacy Award.
