Twitter: @paulcarder After 25 yrs working in London & South East, and fortunately travelling around the world, I returned home to Plymouth (UK) permanently in 2017. I'm now working full-time for a great community interest company, and NHS provider, Livewell Southwest CIC, across Plymouth, West Devon & the South Hams. From 2011, I was a co-founder of And Places Limited (reg. in Hong Kong), which owns a leading periodical W&P "WorkAndPlace" www.workandplace.comI produced the first issue in 2012, with the late Richard Byatt. And later worked with Dr. Jim Ware, Marcus Bowen and Mark Eltringham. I still write occasionally, but only for W&P.Now back in a full-time operational property/workplace role, I no longer do conferences or travel, rarely venturing east of Exeter.

Property & Accommodation Manager

Current

Plymouth, United Kingdom

I support a fascinating range of hard-working professional teams in multiple health, medical and caring roles across Plymouth, west Devon and the South Hams. I work with the Directors and Heads of Service to strategically plan their accommodation needs, and manage our landlord relationships. At the core, we have three community hospitals, acute mental health facilities, dentistry, pharmacy, MIUs and a range of clinics and therapy services. But increasingly we support our staff to offer treatment and care across the community, and where possible at our patients' homes. It is humbling to work with these great people.

Current

Global

All issues available here: http://www.workandplace.com"Work&Place" was a periodical journal, with 11 international issues published. It is now all online. We believe that there will come a time when organisations, and the people who lead them, will think of “work” and “places” as two different, but inter-connected, management responsibilities. And “management” is the word missing from our title, but it will be integral to the key messages put across in many of our articles. Our journal is therefore relevant to the creators and managers of “places” (corporate real estate, construction, facilities management and workplace development). It will be equally relevant to managers of “work” (business leaders, and functional specialists who have a key influence on corporate “places” - human resources (HR) and information technology (IT) and others such as branding and marketing). If you would like to write for Work&Place, please contact Marcus: email: Marcus.Bowen@workandplace.com

Reservist Rifleman, never quite knowing what was going on, but we got to shoot all kinds of weapons, jump in and out of helicopters, and the occasional landing craft (which never quite got to the beach - providing simple entertainment to the RM Commandos).I did manage to excel at shooting things quite accurately, and got sent up to represent the Battalion at the SW championships. Basic training was at the grand Peninsula Barracks in Winchester (and some woods somewhere, but we never knew where we were, and were too tired to care) which is now converted to posh homes.
