In my position, I oversaw the academic components of the program and I was responsible for developing and implementing evaluation and research efforts in the program.I successfully composed and submitted our application to the US Department of Education to be recognized as a Comprehensive and Postsecondary Transition Program -- one of the first eleven approved in the United States.Implemented a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports initiative consistent with the US Department of Education Office of Special Education guidelines (http://www.pbis.org/ )-- one of the first such initiatives with a post-secondary program.Incorporated the research of Dr. Russell A Barkley on executive functioning skills into the curriculum.Led the NYIT | VIP initiative to migrate the department's move from a Datatel to a People Soft student information system.Managed a 2 million department budget and managed the administration, academic, and fiscal development of the NYIT Vocational Independence Program, the summer Introduction to Independence Program, and the Associate Degree Support Program

I was instrumental in the successful submission of a grant proposal for the first OPWDD (OMRDD at the time) Crisis Intervention Center in New York State. As Assistant Director for Adult Day Services in charge of the East Hills Day Treatment program I oversaw a budget of over one million dollars and I supervised the six professional and approximately twenty direct care staff of the program.
