I relocated to Massachusetts and served as a substitute teacher in 3 school districts. I relocated to Maine when my wife retired in June 2022. I will be seeking a school district or two in York County in which I can continue to substitute. I had been in the financial services industry since graduating from the University of Maine in 1979 with a degree in Finance. I was exclusively originating mortgage loans since 1991. I wrote a regular column for the Newport Daily Express entitled Mortgage Matters. I also have appeared in several issues of the now defunct Mortgage Originator Magazine for my expertise in the area of VA loans.However, I decided to return to school to get my teaching certificate. I completed South Florida Community College's Educator Preparatory Institute program and after a stint as a long-term substitute at Hill Gustat Middle School in Sebring, Florida, I began my present position at Hardee Junior High in Wauchula in August of 2012. I have taught Language Arts, and for 4 years, I taught Grade 7 Civics. I subbed at three Massachusetts School districts from 2017-2022, including long term at one school for high school and middle school.Specialties: My nickname of Mister VA was acquired when I covered the Plattsburgh NY area for Commonwealth United Mortgage Corporation [since acquired by National City Mortgage]. I have become known as an expert in assisting veterans with VA mortgages. I received VHFA's Top Producer award for Orleans County in FY 2007-08. I also received a marketing award from Mortgage Originator Magazine--one of five to do so.I successfully passed FLDOE exams in Professional Education; Business Education 6-12; Elementary Education K-6; Social Science 5-9; English 5-9; and Mathematics 5-9.My blog has taken several turns, and now I focus on my hobbies of photographing courthouses and covered bridges.
