Paul's core skill is that he can interpret business or compliance requirements; analyse them and make architectural recommendations that can be built into technical solutions. He is adept at using workshops, interviews and analysis to understand what the business needs of an organisation are. Paul can then confirm the requirements with the business owners and interpret them into system architectures, principals and designs to assist the organisation in delivering to the requirements. He does this whilst also ensuring that the organisation maintains control over their data assets, by ensuring that both the user and the device are authorised to access, that data is protected during transit and at rest, and that a regime is in place that mitigates the risks to an acceptable level aligned with the business and any Government or industry compliance requirements.Paul has helped organisations both migrate and build new systems in a secure manner on cloud platform environments, architecting systems and policies specifically for the cloud environment so that the organisation can take advantage of the scalability of the service as and when required.With the proliferation of tablets and smart phones within organisations and the business wanting to utilise these devices for “smart” access to corporate systems and data; Paul has architected systems and policies for the management of such devices, whether they be corporate owned or bring-your-own-device (BYOD). He has also written policies including use and management policies so that the risks of use of such devices can be mitigated.Paul has a managing style that encourages individual thinking and team sharing; delegating responsibility but retaining the accountability. He encourages development in both technical and soft skills. He has presented at conferences including ISSE (London and Prague); ECAF (London); and ETSI (Rome), as well as many other smaller regional workgroups.
