I launched Think Sustainability in 2020 after almost 40 years working in sustainability, communications, consultancy and science. The Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) is the peak body in Australia and New Zealand for enabling sustainability outcomes in the planning, design, construction and operation of infrastructure. I developed new strategies and tools (including virtual training and podcasts) to improve industry knowledge and capability in successfully delivering sustainable infrastructure ratings and in supporting professional development of sustainability practitioners. This includes new ways of delivering information and skills into the sustainability and engineering professions both for practitioners already in the field as well as those still in tertiary education. I also led ISCA's advocacy activities to promote sustainable practices and outcomes for the infrastructure sector, mapping a pathway to net zero carbon emissions, the social and economic returns of sustainability ratings, and managing the risks of modern slavery in infrastructure supply chains.

As Senior Sustainability Manager I led the sustainability team at NRT for three years to help deliver all 500+ sustainability-related aspects of the project. This included climate risk evaluations and adaptions, life cycle analysis, energy consumption modelling, supply chain assessments, sustainable workforce initiatives and community outcomes. I was also part of NRT’s Executive Leadership Team on the PPP (OpCo) responsible for managing communications and sustainability for Northwest Rapid Transit Pty Ltd.I am an ISCA Accredited Sustainability Professional. My expertise covers infrastructure, construction, engineering, design and architectural aspects of sustainability. My role involves mitigating climate change risks, life cycle analysis, carbon and energy assessments, sustainable procurement, Greenstar, ISCA and TfNSW Sustainable Design Guidelines. I worked as Chief Operating Officer with KPMG-Banarra, one of Australia’s most respected consultancies in management and sustainability. I played a pivotal role in developing the business, particularly its reporting, assurance and supply chain service areas, and in developing and managing its people. I have worked with a wide range of well-known, high profile Australian and multinational clients in developing their reporting, materiality, supply chain, community engagement and sustainability management. These clients span a wide variety of sectors including resources, property, logistics, retail, finance, energy, telecommunications, not-for-profit and legal. I am a Certified Lead Sustainability Assurance Practitioner, and have been a GRI Certified Trainer, a member of the GRI’s G4 Working Group on Management Disclosures, a member of the GRI G4 practitioner’s network, a member of the AA1000 SES working group, and a member of the IIRC Technical Collaboration Group on Integrated Reports. ILAC is the international forum for laboratory accreditation and harmonization of testing practices. Its membership includes some 60 national bodies around the world, plus affiliated international standards, accreditation and scientific bodies. Collectively ILAC covers around 25,000 laboratories world-wide. Paul was elected Chairman of the ILAC Public Affairs Committee for three terms, from 1996 until 2002, and served on ILAC’s Executive Committee for the same period.
