Concurrent is defining and building a new class of tools and technologies to truly deliver the vision of open-source analytics and infrastructure. It's category-defining product Driven is the first comprehensive application performance management solution for 'Big Data'​ applications. Driven integrates with best-of-breed open source data processing platforms - Hadoop, Cascading, Scalding, Hive, Spark and many others - to help operators and developers truly understand what happens when 'the code hits the cluster' and succeed in monetizing and operationalizing this new class of applications.As the head of engineering I helped define, architect and build the 1.0 version and 3 subsequent iterations of Driven, which is delivered both on-prem and as a trial cloud-based offering.I built the world-class development team from the ground up and managed all aspects of the development process including design, architecture, QA, technical operations and documentation.Concurrent is also the primary developer of the Cascading open source application platform which underlies other successful platforms such as Scalding, Cascalog and Lingual.Selected technologies used: Angular for browser-based UI, D3 for visualization. Java and Scala on the backend with ElasticSearch as primary storage and search. AWS for cloud-based deployment.

Came to Aggregate Knowledge through the acquisition of Quantivo and left after integrating the team and technology into the combined organization.

At various times CTO, VP Engineering and CEO of this pioneering company in cloud-based analytics and big data management.At Quantivo we envisioned, defined and built one of the earliest - possibly the earliest - general-purpose entirely-cloud-architected analytics infrastructure. The core of the technology was a novel hybrid hash and column-store data management kernel which we designed and built from scratch. We leveraged this core innovation into a highly efficient and truly elastic data management infrastructure with unparalleled performance balanced with efficiency and cost-effectiveness.From the core platform we defined and built cutting-edge analytic solutions targeted at online marketing and retail. We integrated with best-of-breed online data sources such as Omniture, Webtrends, Coremetrics and Google Analytics to deliver turn-key cloud-delivered products with immediate actionable ROI to marketers and retailers. Our technology was successfully deployed and in-use at diverse world-class companies such as ASOS, Metlife, Comcast and Visa International.I co-founded and bootstrapped the company with an enterprise deal from Visa International. I co-lead seed-stage, A round and subsequent funding-raising, successfully attracting investment from Partech International and Foundation Capital.I served as primary architect and technical lead for every iteration of the technology and solution. We innovated and solved many novel problems with cloud-based analytics long before so much open-source infrastructure existed to help: ingestion, meta data derivation, transformation and enrichment and query processing.
