Although legislative and duty of care requirements means that the recruitment professional must review host employer safety systems to ensure the safety of candidates, host employers have their own safety professionals and do not always desire external encroachment. I view my role as more a collaborative one, where my injury prevention skills come to the fore. SWP has provided me with a unique opportunity, in that many recruitment companies do not have a dedicated safety/injury management professional. Within my role, I’ve been able to provide support and expertise to host employers in regards to providing candidates who are not only physically suited to the task at hand, but possess a safety mindset. I’ve also had the opportunity to perform job task analyses, which not only assists with providing the right candidate, but enables recruitment consultants to find the right person to facilitate long term position placement sustainability.
