I was lucky enough to have been born in Guernsey and, after studying at the University of Salford, returned to Guernsey to work in the international finance sector for over 35 years. During that time, I qualified as a Chartered Secretary, became a Fellow of ICSA, and gained an MSc in Corporate Governance and the Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors.My career in finance took me from a trainee fund administrator at Kleinwort Benson to heading up the fund administration businesses of HSBC, RBSI, BNP Paribas and RMB Investments in Guernsey, being a group Director for JTC and, ultimately, being elected Chairman of both the Guernsey Investment Fund Association and the ICSA Bailiwick of Guernsey Branch Council. As part of my roles for those professional bodies I was also a council member of the Guernsey International Business Association and a member of the Channel Islands Committee of the Association of Investment Companies.In 2018, whilst acting as a non-exec director and consultant, I was introduced to Charles Murray who had an idea for rejuvenating the horticultural sector in Guernsey, which had been struggling since the demise of the tomato industry. The idea evolved into growing cannabis on Guernsey and that led to me focussing full time on the establishment of The House of Green and bringing together a fantastic team of experts to build a cannabis business located here on Guernsey.We now have a vertically integrated, licensed business for the cultivation and processing of cannabis and are able to offer products and services covering the entire process from seed to sale. In addition, one of our subsidiary companies, Oak & Crane, designs and builds bespoke cannabis extraction systems for sale across the globe.I am very proud of what we have achieved to date at The House of Green and look forward to the expansion of our business as the burgeoning cannabis industry in the UK and Europe continues to develop.
