My primary role is split between providing broad enterprise application technical support, and, the hands on management of around 300 servers running a combination of Oracle VM, VMWare, Windows, Linux, and Solaris.A large part of the server estate hosts an Oracle ERP platform including components such as EBS, SOA, IPM, OFR, ODI, and IDM. The rest of the estate is made up of supporting functions such as managed desktops, source control systems, and testing platforms. Due to the diversity of my role, I have become the subject mater expert across several areas, including the scanning and invoicing solutions, and the integration of components across Windows and UNIX platforms.

I was part of a small environment management team within a larger operations team. We managed the UAT and SIT environments for a bespoke fund trading solution, resolving any issues and managing the release and refresh schedules.The solution consisted of an enterprise JAVA app linked to a message queue and DB2 backend which processed fund trades via the SWIFT network. As well as working closely with the development, support, project, and business teams out in Luxembourg, I also spent time automating many internal processes (such as morning checks, test data generation, and a log file parser).

I worked in the Linlithgow campus for Sun Remote Services. During my time there I worked in various roles starting as a Monitoring Agent and progressed through to become a Developer / Data Analyst.In my role as Technical Support Analyst I worked as part of a small team providing worldwide 2nd line support for a range of Sun Remote Services applications. Progressing to my role as Data Analyst, I single handedly performed data analysis on a range of databases and flat files. I developed a framework and tools (Using Oracle and Ruby on Rails) to consolidate data from various databases and flat files into web portal that provided real-time statistics on the data.
