I worked my way up the ranks of one of York’s campus newspapers to become editor-in-chief. This role involved organising a team of journalists; designing the paper in Adobe InDesign; and leading investigations into links between the university and arms manufacturers, and the appalling state of mental health facilities on campus. This role taught me a lot about time management, leadership, teamwork, and Freedom of Information and media law.

I served as the official student photographer for one of the UK’s largest free festivals, taking promotional photos of talks and workshops over two weeks, and updating the festival’s social media channels to promote these events. This experience was invaluable because it was simultaneously client-facing and required me to be an ambassador for the festival to the public.

From start to finish I produced, directed and edited a series of short adverts for a local consultancy and meeting facilitation company, profiling their staff and business for their website and social media pages.
