Paul Ackermann, MD, PhD, Professor and Orthopedic Surgeon at the Karolinska Institutet and University Hospital. Dr. Ackermann is the Head of the Orthopedic Research Laboratory, focusing his research on Neuronal Regulation of Pain and Musculo-skeletal Tissue Repair in collaboration with a global network of researchers. His mission in research is to understand and exploit neuronal pathways in the musculo-skeletal apparatus for restoring joint function and alleviating pain. Dr. Ackermann is a specialist in orthopedic surgery with focus on trauma. His mission is to develop and translate basic research findings into clinical practice. Dr. Ackermann has developed adjuvant treatment protocols with intermittent pneumatic compression to optimize the blood supply in patients at risk.
