As a Chronic Disease Nurse at Fraser Health Authority, I provide diabetes education and management to patients with type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes, as well as their families and caregivers. I have over two years of experience in diabetes nursing, and I hold a Diabetes Educator Certificate from The Michener Institute of Education at UHN, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Douglas College.My mission is to advocate for the health and well-being of diverse and underserved populations, such as children, women, indigenous peoples, non-binary, people of colour, and immigrants, who face barriers and vulnerabilities in accessing adequate health care services. I use an empathic and compassionate approach to enhance cultural safety and awareness in health care, and I lead ethical care with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice. I also collaborate with nursing students, preceptors, new grads, colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members to advance clinical education and research, and to strengthen transitions across health care systems.
