In addition to technical management, I support system design, test and integration. I am also one of the primary UAS test pilots at Draper.I founded Daedalus Flight Systems and served as President and Principal Engineer for 8 years while performing on numerous US Defense research programs, including the DARPA Nano Air Vehicle Program. Daedalus Flight Systems was an aerospace engineering consulting company focused on the development of Robotic Systems including Unmanned and Micro Air Vehicles.While working for one year at Weatherford, I worked on the development of fiber optic sensors for oil well downhole pressure and temperature monitoring and managed advanced R&D projects focused on Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS).I initiated MAV research at the University of Maryland and helped the program grow into a multi-million dollar research area and one of the premier MAV research programs in the USA.While at the University of Maryland, I developed multiple helicopter gearbox damage detection technologies including algorithms based on time/frequency analysis (wavelets) and adaptive signal processing techniques, as well as a sensor system based on a fiber optic strain sensor array.During my carrer, I have personally designed, fabricated and tested multiple innovative Micro Air Vehicle prototypes, as well as mechanical and electronic subsystems. I employed multiple rapid prototyping techniques as well as design for manufacturing practices in order to realize innovative robotic systems, including rotary wing and bio-inspired flapping wing platforms.
