About Matthew Pearson
Ever since I was a little kid, I was fascinated with building things. As I sat there playing with my Lego, I was watching my family be involved in the construction and design of houses and kitchens. As I grew up, my Father introduced me to many tools and how to properly put them to work. Early on I developed an appreciation and respect for hands on work.Throughout elementary and high school I took every opportunity I could get to assist my father in building projects or fixing the house. This passion turned to Engineering when it molded with my obsession with bikes. I became enamored by their mechanics, design and innovation. I started saving up to buy a fancier bike by getting my first job at the bike shop as a cleaner. This would evolve into many positions over several years through high school and university. I learned everything I could, how to build, fix, restore and even sell bikes to our clients. These passions carried me to my decision to peruse Mechanical Engineering at Queen’s. Here my interests branched out in many directions, leading me to do Biomechanical work with cadavers, Manage a student design team where we designed and manufactured a single person off-road vehicle from scratch and taught myself how to build and code Arduino based robots. For me, Engineering became a way to connect the hands-on work that drove me as a child with the technical problem solving I now craved. Now, in industry as a growing Engineer I have the desire to be technically challenged and expand my engineering knowledge by working on solving problems with a dynamic team.Skills/Interests: Product Design, Biomech, Hands-on work, Prototyping and Testing, Research, Production, Manufacturing and SolidWorks
Listed skills include Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Product Design, Research, Computer Aided Design, and 35 others.

Sales, Mechanic And Cleaner
The final two years of work at Cyclepath were spent as a salesperson that managed the inventory for both Cyclepath and Ted's Road and Triathlon stores which involved multiple inventory orders with several different companies each week .Developed interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with a wide variety of customers and coworkers in addition to becoming mechanically inclined and developing all the skills necessary to fully repair a bicycle.Working at Cyclepath was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was my first job that I will never forget, it gave me so much room to grow with beginning as a simple part-time cleaner and ending as a Salesperson managing the inventory. I have a passion for bicycles and being surrounded by a great group of people, it was a dream to work in such an encouraging space. Started work during High school cleaning the shop twice a week. Over time gained experience and knowledge of bicycle repairs and maintenance and began working longer shifts more often. Migrated to a part time (full time during Summer) mechanic role that required attention to detail in order to achieve the quality of service that was expected from each mechanic.
