Scott is a Principal in the Denver, Colorado office of the law firm Jackson Lewis P.C., a national leader in the world of employment law. Scott oversees the firm’s Litigation Statistics specialty group – a team of in house statisticians, data analysts and attorneys who use Big Data and analytics to defend employers in wage and hour class/collective actions and EEO systemic discrimination cases. The group works with large data sets from employers’ timekeeping systems, payroll records, human resource information systems and other databases to evaluate risks and liabilities in support of Jackson Lewis litigators nationwide. This includes analyses in response to wage & hour complaints, EEOC systemic charges, OFCCP audits, and claims under the Equal Pay Act. In view of the large number of class actions handled by Jackson Lewis each year, Scott had been able to develop a deep and rich understanding of how to use Big Data as a sword and a shield in defending employment law cases. Scott also assists employers with internal, proactive analyses, including EEO Pay Analyses and Wage & Hour Self-Audits. With his data expertise and over 9-years of experience counseling employers on labor and employment issues, Scott helps companies find and eliminate “hidden” issues in their data systems before any lawsuit is filed. In these projects, Scott works closely with legal, HR and compensation personnel, as well as Jackson Lewis statisticians, to design meaningful analyses under the attorney-client privilege.
